Morris Brown College Pantry

The Magnolia (GA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is proud to support the Morris Brown College community through the food pantry we established and continue to maintain on campus. What began as a vision to address food insecurity has grown into a meaningful resource that ensures students have reliable access to nutritious food while they pursue their education. The pantry is uniquely student-led, with Morris Brown students helping to operate and manage the space through the college’s Work Study Program, allowing them to offset their tuition while supporting their peers. It is a powerful example of collaboration, compassion, and community impact, values that are central to the mission of The Links, Incorporated. For the Magnificent Magnolias, this initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to creating sustainable solutions that uplift students and strengthen the communities we serve.

Stocking and restocking the pantry brings a good crop of Magnolias great joy. On any given day, we will run into a college student on a budget who expresses gratitude.
I have grown to love these students. The majority I have encountered are humble, kind and genuinely thankful to have a place to shop.
The Magnolia Pantry undoubtedly helps tide them over from class to class, day to day; or over a long weekend. I'm extremely proud of the work we are doing here.
A recent survey at Georgia State University found that 59% of college students experience some level of food insecurity. In addition, studies found, 1 in 4 students at Georgia Colleges often skipped meals all together the past 12 months. Our work here is important and sustainable with the help of community partners and future grants.
